Autograph nerd stuff.
After the Tides game tonight I gave Charlotte Knights pitchers Jason Childers, Gavin Floyd, and Ryan Bukvich a ride over to Jillians so they could watch the De la Hoya/Mayweather fight. They had called a taxi but it was taking forever and the rest of the team wasn't really that great about signing-well, most of them were good, but a select few were really shitty about it-so I decided to screw getting autographs and give them a ride. It helped that the weather sucked. I've known Jason for a few years-he played for Richmond a couple years back-and he's just a great guy. I hadn't met Bukvich until tonight but he signed all my cards before the game and seems like really nice too. I've met Gavin a couple of times before and he's usually pretty nice but not always so great about signing autographs. But, from the short car ride, he seems like a cool dude. He asked me if I was married and told me about his girlfriend and then we heard Bukvich's thought on engagement: "As soon as you pop the question they start planning the wedding. They'll come up the next day with chapel picked out." Gotta love the minor leagues.
