Wonder how we know what happens to us isn't a good thing.
I've been reading The Collected Stories of Amy Hempel. I read Chuck Palahniuk's Stranger Than Fiction and he did a review of her. You can really see how she influenced his style. Hempel is an enjoyable read. She likes dogs a little more than I'm comfortable with, but she has that biting sense of humor that's just great. The Man in Bogata has been my favorite. Plus, it's a quick read because it's written mostly in short passages. I'm all about a quick read. Speaking of, Bear v. Shark is still amazing.
