How do you run out of glasses at IHOP?
We shot a couple of scenes at Katie's house last night. The scenes included Shifty and Eric and those guys have worked together enough now that things go pretty smoothly when it's just them. They know the lines well enough that they could do them in funny voices and funny tones. Or not so funny voices and not so funny tones. Shifty is getting better at the stuff he does that makes filming annoying, like not shifting so much and being able to continue even if he fucks up. Don't get me wrong, the dude kicks ass on camera, just the little piddly stuff adds time gives me an upset stomach. I think I've gotten an upset stomach every time we've done any shooting. I can't imagine if I had millions of dollars riding on something; I'd probably be throwing up all over the place. The guys did great; there's a scene with peanutbutter and jelly that is one of my favorites in the movie. Eric had to eat four or five peanutbutter and jelly sandwitches. After the first take he's almost in tears, "I need milk!" Great. Katie went out and got tipsy while we were shooting so she came back like the Energizer Bunny; she's a fun drunk. She and her roommates have these kittens and they were running all over the place meowing and causing a ruckus. Needless to say there were a lot of cooking jokes being thrown around. Apparently Eric doesn't like cats so it was pretty damn funny when, during one of the takes, one of the cats came up and started rubbing itself against his leg. Afterwards we went to IHOP and they only had one guy working for the Saturday 3AM rush. Ridiculous. They didn't have any clean glasses and our food sucked. It's not the waiter's fault, but unfortunately he's the guy that's in front of me that I can vent my frustrations to. We're doing some more filming on Wednesday and probably over the weekend. So yeah, things are coming along.
