An open letter to Ben Stiller.

Mr. Stiller,

First, I want you to know that this letter's intent keeps your best interest at its core. This isn't an admonishment nor does it contain any threats. This is simply one fan asking you to make a slight adjustment in your career path.  In that vein, I humbly ask that you occasionally make a dramatic movie. I'm not asking you to abandon your bread and butter, the comedy. That would be silly. You've made a ton of outstanding movies in this genre; There's Something About Mary, Starsky and Hutch, Meet the Parents, Envy, and Zoolander.  I loved the Ben Stiller show and still get excited when I occasionally see it on Comedy Central at two in the morning. But what's been missing from your recent career is, what was so prevalant in your early career, attempts at dramatic acting in movies with a more serious overall tone.  The real shame is that you're great in dramatic roles. I haven't seen everything from your early career, but I really enjoyed Permanent Midnight, Zero Effect, Reality Bites, and Your Friends & Neighbors, which is simply a great movie. The last two times you tried something more serious you made one pretty watchable movie, Keeping the Faith, and one of the best movies ever made, The Royal Tenenbaums.  What I'm saying is, you can do, you have done it, I, for one, would love it if you would do it again. And while we're on the subject of things you have done well, whatever happened to directing? Zoolander, Reality Bites, and The Cable Guy are three fantastic movies. I've watched every one of those a bunch of times and still love them. So I guess my suggestion might be to not only act in a more serious film, but to direct, maybe even write, one. Let's face it, you're pretty well financially set, so skipping out on a comedy, surefire moneymakers, to do a more serious work, a riskier financial venture, isn't something you can't afford to do. Again, I'm just asking you to consider all this. I enjoy you as a serious actor and I thik I'd enjoy you more as a comedic actor if I had the serious side to contrast it with.

Thanks for probably never reading this,

CB Wilkins

Is this what we're doing now? Replying to all my posts with the equivalent post by that crazy person/genius. Seriously?

ALL your posts? Probably not. This ONE post that reminded of me of something that I coincidentally had just read about an hour earlier? Yup!
