The Decree of Edit.
I just aced an exam. Hell yeah. It was odd though, I noticed our second exam was exactly a month after our first one. Anyway, onto things you'll probably care more about, Travis and I spent some hours yesterday and did the first official editing of scenes for Speaking Japanese. That's right, these are the first ones using the acutal softward, Adobe Premiere. And they look pretty damn cool. I'm definitely finding that my assumption about the movie is true, this isn't a laugh out loud, rolling in the aisles movie, it's a lot more subtle than that. I really think it'll be one of those that'll get stuck in your head and you'll watch it a few times and find different things funny each time. Right here is usually where I'd say something like "Or maybe not," but I'm on a self-confidence/arrogance kick so fuck that, you're gonna love this movie in exactly the way I've described it right here. We did the "Vet" scene with Derrick, where Doug and Eric are both just hilarious. We only had seven minutes of footage on that for four angles, easily a record for this production. We also did the "Baby Survivor" scene with Andy and Derrick, which, once we can put it out in a small enough file to load onto Youtube, we're going to put out as a teaser. That scene was really cool cause it was written on the ride down a couple of days before we shot it, one of the only perks of this movie taking so long to make is that we keep coming up with good stuff. What was also neat is that we gave Mike and Eric a lot of freedom in it; they're playing a video game while delivering the lines and we just let them roll with it, playing and commenting on the game while working in the scene and it really came out well. We got some great stuff out of their interactions. Those two just work well together. So be on the lookout for that scene. Four and a half minutes down, a shitload more to go. And we're not even done filming. But we kick ass, so don't worry.
