The Darjeeling Limited didn't disappoint me.
Travis and I saw The Darjeeling Limited last night and while Travis was less than impressed, I loved it. It's highly unlikely that Wes Anderson will ever make a movie as amazing as The Royal Tenenbaums again, but this statement requires a caveat: most directors won't ever make a movie as amazing as The Royal Tenenbaums. In fact, most director's careers won't add up to be as amazing as that one movie. Andersom might not ever even make a movie quite as enjoyable as Rushmore again. But, what he will do is just what he did with The Darjeeling Limited, make beautifully crafted, visually stunning, instense movies that dare to explore the cracks and crevasses of human life that other movies are far too timid to examine.  This movie is a wonderful delight that bobs and weaves with the lyrical joy typical of a Wes Anderson movie and I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. Adrien Brody is one of my all-time favorite actors, but he and Owen Wilson were both overshadowed by Jason Schwartzman who has a way of conveying pain with little effort. All this and the short film La Hotel Chevalier before the movie, which is amazing for no other reason that the mind boggling riddle of how anyone convinced Natalie Portman to get that naked.

Natalie Portman in any state of nakedness is the happy kind. That shit starts at "happy." "Happy" is her in 7-layers of clothes and an eskimo mukmuk, and it just gets better from there.
