Lamont says, "You can't beat the clam chowder at Colley Cantina."
I forgot to put this in the post I just made so I'll give it its own post. While I was waiting for Ashleigh to show up at The Naro this dude asked me if he could get some money. I was like, "Sure, why not?" As I'm pulling out my wallet he's telling me he'd really like a sub, so I take out ten bucks and give it to him-I'm in a good mood, it's my birthday, why the hell not? So he's really appreciative and we get to talking, turns out his name is Lamont. I tell him it's my birthday and he asks how old I am and I say 26, and he goes, "26? Damn, I saw you walking up I didn't think you were any older than 19." That's a compliment I guess. Fuck it, I'm closer to 30 than 20, that's an awesome compliment. So me and Lamont get to talking about women-cause what else are we gonna talk about?-and he tells me about his woman acting up caue she was in front of her friends, embarassing him by being demeaning. "I dont' care if I ever see her again." I had to agree, from the way he described it just didn't seem right; you need to respect each other. He asked if I had a girlfriend and I said no and he said, "That's alright. Good looking guy like you, you'll be alright. Just don't go making no babies." I appreicated the compliment and assured him that I had no intention of making any babies. Ever. He kept telling me how much he appreciated the money, which I had almost forgotten that I gave him. He told me that I really should find some nice girl and take her to Colley Cantina-where I gathered that he works in the kitchen-if for no other reason than that the clam chowder is amazing. "The cook is this young kid and he's got the 86 year old recipe. Once the owner found out how good it was he gave him a raise from $11 an hour to $16 an hour." That sounds like some damn good chowder. Eventually Lamont and I parted ways and I don't really think he's homeless or anything like that and I'm not even sure he was truly need of the ten dollars I gave him, but honestly, the conversation was worth the money.
