Shooting a music video.
We spent most of the day (and part of the night) yesterday shooting the music video for The Influence's song "The Following". I was a little worried when I showed up because Travis had never fully explained to me what his whole idea for the video was, but I was just showing up to help out, so I didn't really care that much. Through the course of the day, I figured out that, even though he wasn't able to explicitly relay it to anyone else, Travis had a really good idea of what he wanted and what he was doing. After a while I finally started to get the idea of the video. Actually, Lindsey, our female actor in the video, explained it a lot better than he ever could have. She and Tim, our male actor in the video, are just wonderful people and they were a lot of fun to work with. They're both ridiculously good looking, which is always nice for a video, they have fantastic senses of humor-Tim moved seamlessly into the gay humor with me-and they're actually dating, which makes this romantic video much easier, because it eliminates the awkwardness that you get from people that aren't together. Personally, I think I just enjoyed the day a lot because I was basically the production assistant; I didn't have any real responsibility, aside from driving and lugging shit-which of course is what I normally do on our shoots anyway. Actually, Lindsey demoted me from a P.A. to a P.M.-pack mule-at one point. Matt and John from the band showed up and made cameos. John's extreme rocking out didn't work like we had hoped-but damn it was funny. Matt got me a little pumped up when he was singing for his cameo. John's sister Amelia showed up too. She didn't do anything, but she's nice all the same. We were actually supposed to shoot Sunday night and I'm really glad we didn't; it was probably just as cold last night, but there wasn't that thirty mile an hour wind whipping around. I have to make sure that we thank the
Pheobus Coffee House for coming in and letting us shoot for a bit and being awesome about it. I had a blueberry scone that was one of the best things I've eaten in a while. We're gonna shoot the rest of the video tonight and hopefully things will go well and we'll get ourselves headed toward a point where "it's a dropout production" isn't a joke anymore. Hey, I can dream right. All I know is, Travis is gonna have a hell of a time trying to edit this thing.
