Gladiators rule, Atonement sucks, and all my teams lost.
I watched the new American Gladiators and it's pretty freaking awesome. I was a little afraid that they would take something I loved an ruin it by making like every other insufferable reality show, but they kept the backstory nonsense to a minimum. There is a pro wrestling aspect to it that's a little annoying, but hey, it's got Hulk Hogan so what else would you expect? But yeah, if you loved the old one like I did, definitely check out the new one. I also went and saw Atonement tonight and I can't figure out why some people are saying this is the movie of the year. It's terrible. It's slow and herky-jerky. There are all these flash-forwards and flash-backs. Nothing really happens. And they had this editing and overlapping of sound bites that not only was annoying, but it also beat you over the head with what they were trying to get across. I liked Pride and Prejudice, which the same director did, but this just wasn't any good. Not a good weekend for the teams I wanted to win. The only team I was rooting for in the NFL playoffs that won was the Chargers. The Buccaneers lost today, and yesterday the Redskins and the Steelers, my two favorite teams after the Panthers, both lost. On top of that, I went to the ODU basketball game yesterday and they lost to lowly William & Mary. I guess I shouldn't root for the Packers next weekend.
