Smores and the perils of the internet.
Did some hardcore hanging out last night with Travis, JoAnna, and Mike. Pretty damn good time. We went to the Six Bar over there in Phoebus and it was super busy. We sat at the bar in front of the cook and shot the shit with the people working there. They were not having a good time. We, however did, as JoAnna convinced us to order the smores. Who knew you could order smores at a bar? It was kind of crazy, they brought out this tray with graham crackers, marshmellows, and chocolate, and a little basin with fire coming out the top. I gotta say, giving people who've been drinking mobile fire and having them stick things in it in the middle of a flamable bar surrounded by alcohol, which is also flamable, doesn't seem like the best idea. It was good though. JoAnna showed us how you have to actually catch the marshmellows on fire and burn them a bit to make it good. Afterward we had a good conversation, I mean one of those really good conversations that you have occassionally with friends. It was nice. We were talking about the impersonality and detatchment of the internet and how easy it is to feel anonymous on it. We also talked about how it's rhetorical, how people only present the tiny piece of themself they want you to see, the best one percent or so of themselves. And about how society would collapse, and has collapsed, without mass opiates such as the internet or television or religion. Good shit, right? JoAnna also told some ridiculously creepy stories about some of her more ardent fans. Made me grit my teeth and made my sin crawl. Yeesh. Oh, there was also a bit of rehersal for this really awesome short that Travis is gonna do, but I'll tell you about that some other time.
